Rotoden Raw recap: Title match announced for No Mecry

A big announcement was made at tonight’s episode of Raw. Brock Lesnar will defend his WWE Universal Championship against Braun Strowman at No Mercy. Raw general manager Kurt Angle made the announcement after Strowman attacked Lesnar during the opening segment of Raw.

Tonight’s show also showcased several tag team matches and a couple of marquee matches. You can check those out below in this week’s Rotoden Raw recap:

Strowman confronts Lesnar

Paul Heyman starts the show by cutting a stellar promo for his client, Brock Lesnar. He calls Roman Reigns, Samoa Joe and Braun Strowman pretenders, and praises him for coming back and winning his championship after being carted off on a stretcher. The biggest emphasis was that Lesnar pinned Reigns to retain the WWE Universal Championship. Heyman mentions that Lesnar is dominant in both the WWE ring and the UFC octagon.

After Heyman’s initial promo, Braun Strowman charges down the runway to confront Lesnar. Strowman enters the ring and delivers several power slams to Lesnar. Strowman then lifts up the Universal Championship to end the segment. Braun Strowman v. Brock Lesnar is later announced for the next pay per view, No Mercy.

Enzo and Cass Brawl it Out

The former tag team partners continue their everlasting feud with a Brooklyn Street fight. Enzo cuts a promo, saying that Cass has book smarts, but that he doesn’t have street smarts. Enzo says his streeet smarts will give him the advantage during this fight.

Enzo says that tonight will be the end of their feud. Enzo then runs backstage and grabs a shopping cart full of weapons. Cass runs up to Enzo and gives him the big boot. Cass then brings Enzo down to the ring, and offers him the first chair shot. As Enzo goes for the chair shot, Cass gives him another big boot.

For most of the match, Cass dominates. He teases Enzo throughout the match by letting him get within arm’s reach of a steal chair only to be thrown away. The match ends when Cass suffers to what looks like a non-kayfabe knee injury, giving Enzo Amore the victory.

Nia dominates Emma

After Emma makes fun of Nia Jax backstage, Nia takes her frustrations on her in the ring. Before the match, Nia says that Emma’s hashtag will be saying #GiveEmmaCPR. After a Samoan Drop, Nia picks up the victory.

Elias takes over Brooklyn

Elias begins his show by rapping. He quickly stops, citing that he wants to play real music. He starts play a new song criticizing R-Truth, until the 45-year comes out, representing Brooklyn.

The match is quick, as Elias picks up the victory.

A Disagreement Among Superstars

Kurt Angle comes out and announces that John Cena is joining the Raw roster. Cena comes to the ring and says he’s happy to be on Raw. He says that he came to Raw to face one person. Roman Reigns music hits and he makes his was to the ring. Cena says that Roman is exactly who he was looking for. Roman says that Cena runs his mouth too much on social media, and challenges Cena to run his mouth in his face. Cena says that he didn’t come to talk, and both men drop their mics.

After both men look like they’re about to fight, The Miz and his Miztourage come out to confront the duo. After Cena and Miz banter for a moment, Miz complains that Cena and Reigns get too many moments in the spotlight. After Miz cuts what is probably an even better promo than his Talking Smack promo, John Cena issues a tag team challenge of Cena and Reigns against the Miz and a member of his Miztourage.

As Miz begins to rebuttle, Samoa Joe comes to the ring and inserts himself as The Miz’s tag team partner. Joe tells Reigns and Cena that he is tired of both of them. Joe then starts fighting Cena. A brawl breaks out in the ring. A chain of events leads to Reigns ending the brawl by Superman punching Joe. The match was made official for later in the night.

Multi-man Cruiserweight Match

The Cruiserweight Division starts their night with an eight-man tag team match. Gran Metalik, Mustafa Ali, Ric Swann and Cedric Alexander pick up a victory. Neville is interviewed backstage calling out Akira Tozawa. Titus O’Neil and Tozawa interrupt his interview to tell Neville that Tozawa will get his Cruiserweight title rematch during WWE 205 Live on Tuesday night.

Tag Team Newbies v. Tag Team Legends

Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose come to the ring, sporting their new Raw Tag Team titles. Rollins begins by saying he’s glad to be partnered back with Ambrose after a long stint. Rollins and Ambrose call out Sheamus and Cesaro, but the Hardy Boyz come to the ring instead. Matt and Jeff says that they’re glad that Rollins and Ambrose reconciled their differences, and challenge the tag team champions to a match. Rollins says that both him and Ambrose idolized the Hardys growing up and accept the challenge. They call for a referee, and the match begins.

Cesaro and Sheamus watch the match from backstage. They are owed a title rematch, after losing the titles at SummerSlam. Rollins and Ambrose pick up the victory over the Hardy Boyz.

Bliss and Banks exchange words

Sasha Banks comes out to the ring to celebrate her Raw Women’s title victory over Alexa Bliss at SummerSlam. Bliss comes out on stage and says that Sasha has a bad history of title defense. Banks challenges Bliss to a match, but Bliss declines and says she’ll face Sasha next week.

A tough test for Jordan

After convincing Kurt Angle, Jason Jordan is granted a match against Finn Balor. The Demon King is coming off a victory over Bray Wyatt from the night before. After a back and forth match, Balor hits the Coup De Grace on Jordan and picks up the victory.

The Glorified v. The Discontent

The long awaited main event of John Cena and Roman Reigns v. The Miz and Samoa Joe starts strong, but becomes somewhat derailed after the beach ball returns from the dead. The Miz mouths off at the crowd during the match, trying to get their support, but to no avail. Most of the match spots pit Miz against Cena, and Reigns against Joe, based on past feuds. The Miztourage interferes a couple of times during the match, but not enough to make a difference in the outcome.

After Cena takes an accidental Superman punch from his partner, Miz attempts to take advantage with a Skull Crushing finale. Cena counters and pins Miz after an Attitude Adjustment.
